This year, the winners of the Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) Awards for Housing Excellence were announced on Sat., April 30 at the JW Marriott Parq Hotel. For the first time in two years, the event was live, and 500 industry guests gathered to celebrate the best in Metro Vancouver’s home building, renovation and design industry.

Celebrating the 13th annual awards season, 33 builders and designers took home 61 prestigious HAVAN Awards. As varied as these award-winning projects were, many of them were dedicated to elevating our west coast summer living in all its natural splendour. Upgrades and spectacular renovations and designs included lavish indoor and outdoor great rooms, streamlined kitchens, bathrooms with endless views, and modern retrofitted energy-efficient homes.

One noticeable trend among this year’s winning home renovations and designs was an increase in the number of entries that included high-performance buildings and materials.

“The B.C. Energy Step Code is raising the bar for higher performance homes, using leading-edge technologies and building systems,” said HAVAN CEO, Ron Rapp. “The results are improved energy efficiencies with consistent year-round comfort and better indoor air quality for the homeowner.”
