The National Kitchen and Bath Association’s (NKBA) Ontario Chapter gathers annually at its Awards Gala to celebrate the talented designers and their exceptional design projects from the previous year. The standout, winning designs must be both visually appealing, as well as fully functional and safe.
This year’s panel of judges, all certified designers (CKD, CBD, CKBD, CMKBD), past winners and industry experts, would agree the entries both met and exceeded the criteria. Qualifying projects are scored based on the NKBA guidelines, safety and ergonomics, elements and principles of design, design planning, creativity and presentation.
Awards are presented for design excellence and creativity within nine design categories, eight specialty categories including People’s Choice, plus the prestigious Pinnacle Award, which went to Erica Sibley & Beverley Binns of Binns Kitchen and Bath Design. This tribute represents the best of all entries and is selected from all the first-place winners. The People’s Choice Award is given to the winner of a contest run by NextHome/RENO+DECOR. Select kitchens from the competition entries are nominated and voted upon by industry peers as well as the public. This year’s winner was Kitchen No.9 by Yoa Butterfly & Kerry Anderson Cato - Homey Kitchen Cabinet Design & Studio Knox Interiors Design. The winner of the Coyote Portable Grill, valued at $869, goes to Marina Kennedy .
