The goal of this ensuite upgrade was to design an effortlessly luxurious space that balanced aesthetics with the practical demands of everyday living. Inspired by an experience in a luxury hotel suite, the homeowners envisioned a specific transformation. Thoughtful planning enhanced the room’s functionality with tailored storage, and personalized design features elevated the elegant aesthetic.
Reconfiguring the layout improved flow, circulation and the overall experience. The shower was enlarged and the original sunken tub was replaced with a sculptural, freestanding model. These changes spoke to the style of the room and were also foundational. Each zone felt open, accessible and intentionally placed, reshaping how the space is used.
A touch of luxe
The tub is the room’s focal point. A place for a soothing soak at the end of the day, it sits in front of the large, walk-in shower. Standing alone, it creates an immediate visual impact, anchoring the space, improving flow and openness, inviting you to discover its magic. A curved body and simple styling bring lightness and calm, confirming the bathroom’s spa-like appeal.
The custom vanity is the room’s main architectural piece, designed with dual sinks, generous concealed storage and a specific feature – a dedicated makeup station. Millwork includes waterfall detailing and wide-sized drawers to fit all the essentials and some non-essentials, with all elements coming together to create a quiet harmony.
Despite the presence of a window, the clients requested more light in the room, since the previous space felt “dark and moody.” To brighten it up, three fixtures with two bulbs per unit at 40 watts each were placed above each mirror. Controlled with dimmers, they provide flexibility for different tasks and times of day.
Large-format tiles in the shower maintain a clean, uninterrupted surface. A pot light provides light and illuminates the elements through the seamless glass enclosure. The overall palette of soft, layered neutral tones, paired with warm whites, muted greys and gentle beige undertones, bring an exciting perspective without a contrast-heavy disruption.
Brass fixtures add warmth and depth and make a bold statement against the neutral backdrop. The subtle sheen enhances the soft richness of the smooth stone surfaces, creating a layered effect. The design, while elegant, prioritizes comfort and everyday functionality. Smart storage, easy flow and key touchpoints support a sense of order and simplicity, giving the homeowners what they desired – a space that feels tranquil and intentional.
