The heat is on

Summer’s here and the time is right for dancing in the streets – and decorating your home as well. Especially in bright, beautiful colours of the season.

I was really excited to tackle the theme of this issue, which was “bringing colour to the home.” I wanted to talk about the use of art in the home and how this can add instant personality to the environment, and my chat with one of Calgary’s premier designers – Christina Loc – enlightened me on the correct placement of paintings and other objet d’art in the home.

Trisha Isabey also instructed us in functional storage solutions that can also bring a splash of colour to the surroundings. Although neutral hues for cabinetry and drawers are still the norm, she says there are a lot of ways to inject pops of colour and all it takes is a little imagination.

The Calgary Stampede may be over but excitement is ramping up anew for the upcoming Calgary Fall Home show. With headliners that include HGTV star Bryan Baeumler and professional organizer, Megan Golightly, the show promises to be another hit. We hope to see you there.
