It’s definitely sweater weather in Alberta right now. So, with Christmas, New Year, and cold weather bearing down on us, we thought it might be a great idea to bring some style to the proceedings. Come curl up by the fire as we bring you the latest issue of Reno + Decor with cosy, comfortable and festive design tips for the Holidays and beyond.

First off in the local scene, we have some expert advice from the Designers Edge team on how to conduct a joyful if intimate and Covid-safe Holiday celebration. Neutrals never go out of season, they say, but his year, they are seeing brown and black as the trend for a foundation, and dark colours with metallics as the focus.

Rising interior design star Louis Duncan-He also offers us his take on creating a cosy bedroom, which is just what the season calls for. He says finding ways to incorporate natural and organic elements into your home is always soothing to the soul. Check out our contest page in this issue as well for a chance to win a personal design consultation with Louis.

This issue also brings you all the design tips, trends and home accessories Canada-wide. Gift ideas abound!

Just be sure to gather safely and remember to check the latest provincial guidelines on social gatherings.

With winter on the way, one thing that will keep us smiling is that beautiful Alberta sunshine! Having the right windows ensures that you’re maximizing the benefits of those warm and sunny rays. Our friends at Duxton Windows & Doors share how they replaced Heat Mirror windows in a client’s home with Quad Pane thin glass, that will block the sun’s rays to avoid overheating issues, while still allowing as much sunlight as possible into the home. Check out pages 16-17 for all the details.

Here’s wishing you a joyful Holiday season and cheers to a healthy and happy 2022! – Nancy Chemait
